When Lily became homeless the day after Christmas, she went to The Coffee Oasis admin building to look for help. There, she met her case manager who started helping her find the resources she needed.

I loved the people at The Coffee Oasis. They were so nice and so patient with me and actually tried to work with me the way my brain worked. When they said they were going to do something, they did what they said they were going to do. They didn’t let me slip through the cracks.”

Lily’s Story

Lily came to The Coffee Oasis drop-in center nearly every day. “I loved the people there. They were so nice and so patient with me and actually tried to work with me the way my brain worked. When they said they were going to do something, they did what they said they were going to do. They didn’t let me slip through the cracks. It was a really safe place to hang out.”

She expressed that the clothing closet was extremely helpful. “When I was first on the street, with the clothes I had, I wouldn’t have survived the winter.” Lily also utilized resources like laundry and showers. “The laundry was great, especially the availability, I could pretty much do it anytime. At The Salvation Army, you had to get on a shower list. At The Coffee Oasis, I could take as much time as I needed. There wasn’t a rush to get out, so I could take a proper shower.”

Working with her case manager, Lily was able to find a transitional housing program to stay at while working towards a more long term solution and finding employment. She looks forward to getting her hamster back who helps with social anxiety. Lily would like to give a gigantic thank you to those who make The Coffee Oasis possible. “Coffee Oasis for me has been a lifesaver. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my case manager. When she says she’s going to do something, she will do it. She won’t let me be forgotten.”
