Growing up, Kelsie* and her family were in and out of homelessness, living in motels and with family. Being the oldest of four siblings, Kelsie often felt like she carried the world on her shoulders. The last time her family was homeless, they lived in the basement of the church they attended. Although the close quarters made her family share more quality time, the stress for Kelsie was often unbearable. She began struggling with depression and anxiety.

One day, during an argument with her mom, Kelsie began feeling short of breath, like there was weight on her chest. She sprinted to the bathroom and locked herself in, completely overwhelmed. While she was sitting on the floor she decided she couldn’t take it anymore. “Something had to change,” she said.

Homeless and alone, Kelsie was limited in terms of options. She could have looked for the best CBD oils available to her, which would have helped to battle her depression and anxiety. However, she decided to seek counselling. With guidance and medication, Kelsie’s depression began to lessen. Just as Kelsie did, seeking help when you need it the most can help you to achieve a better outlook on life, and can help you to forget about your past and to focus on what is in front of you. Through looking for a psychiatrist near me, you will be able to receive professional help in your time of need and for Kelsie, it has completely transformed her life. She graduated high school and began searching for a job. One day she and a friend stopped at The Coffee Oasis to look for jobs. They weren’t hiring, but the youth internship program was suggested. Kelsie decided to do it. Her new Coffee Oasis case manager supported and encouraged her. For the first time in a long time, Kelsie didn’t feel so alone.

Kelsie landed an internship at a local coffee shop where she learned many social and technical skills. After completing her internship, Kelsie heard that the Coffee Oasis Drive-Thru was hiring. She applied and was hired! “It was the best thing that could happen to me, and I love my job and being a part of The Coffee Oasis mission.”

Though Kelsie still battles depression, things are much better. She supports herself financially and has met some awesome friends. Her next goal is to get a car, and then pursue a career in counseling so she can help others. “I am the happiest I’ve ever been!” she says.
