The Coffee Oasis Tacoma Youth Shelter: The Loft is a 12 bed DCYF licensed under-aged youth shelter that provides youth a safe and encouraging place to live while they work towards sustainable housing and employment.
Eligible Youth
Youth ages 13 to 17 who…
- Are experiencing homelessness
- Ran away from home
- Have been sexually exploited or trafficked
- Are in crisis without a safe place to stay overnight
RESTRICTIONS—We cannot accept youth…
- Registered as sex offenders
- With recent violent history: Sexual offenses/Assault charges, level 1,2,3 (In the past 2 years)
Provisions
- Safe and clean bed
- Shower and hygiene products
- Clothing and laundry
- Snacks and meals
- Internal and external resource referral
- Mentoring and case management
- Access to emergency medical care
- Family reunification
- After care
Maximum stay: 150 days with a commitment of case management after 3 consecutive days of stay

Staff will confirm an open bed on a 1st come 1st served basis until we are at capacity. Remaining youth will be placed on a waiting list managed by housing staff.
Intake/Assessment: WA state background checks will be performed on all youth entering into our program. Additionally, staff will contact the guardian to request consent within 72 hours of arrival to shelter. If staff is unable to receive consent, the appropriate Law Enforcement Agency will be notified that the youth is in our care.
