These are a few of the 6,000+ texts we have received in 2021. Since 2018 we have received 22,828 to the crisis text line. These texts do not come from across the country, but from kids in our communities. Kids in our schools. Sometimes, even kids in our own homes.

The crisis text line literally saves lives. Like a rope cast from a ship to a desperate person sinking in dark waters, we hope to reach the youth and draw them to safety. 1,530 youth have found safety and belonging at one of our drop-in centers this year. 145 youth have been helped towards fulfilling their big dreams by meeting with a case manager. 141 youth have stayed in one of our shelters in Pierce or Kitsap County. These are our kids and your kids.

Next year, we celebrate the 25th year of The Coffee Oasis. In a quarter of a century thousands of lives have been restored—homeless finding homes, hopelessness turning to hope, and lonely hearts filled with the love of someone caring for them. Jesus described his ministry with these words, “The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy; I have come that you can have life and have it to the full.” In some small way I think we’ve been able to share in that work. And I believe we are just beginning!

Together we have the skill, resources, and bold faith to significantly restore the communities where we live, work, play, and raise our families. I believe together we can model unity in a world that often seems breaking apart. At the end of this year, we invite you to invest in the future of the kids right here in our backyard. Your partnership with The Coffee Oasis will ensure every youth in need has opportunities to thrive, a compassionate adult to talk with, and a safe place to sleep each night. For just $13 per hour you can help us keep our crisis text line open 24/7.

We anticipate it will cost $108,000 in 2022 to make sure any local youth in crisis can reach us. Will you partner with us to care for, support, and encourage local youth?

Become an Oasis Line Volunteer.

As an Oasis Line volunteer, you will get the opportunity to respond to youth experiencing a crisis via text, offering support through conversation and directing youth to resources as appropriate. No need to leave the safety and comfort of your home! The Oasis Line texts will get directed to your cell phone (while keeping your number private).
