Nelson House is a supportive housing opportunity for women 18-25 years old seeking to have a safe environment to live while they work towards gaining employment, education, and life skills for successful independent futures. Residents contribute to their community and learn new skills—including teamwork, taking direction, and time management—by doing maintenance at a local city park. Residents meet regularly with a Case Manager who helps them work towards achieving their educational, employment, housing, and personal goals.
As a supportive/transitional housing program, one of the primary goals is to prepare residents for independent living. So, after a six month stay and working with a Case Manager towards gaining employment or income, residents pay a program fee to simulate what independent living will look like for them paying rent.
