Cindy Frederick and Julie Judy invite you to join them for Steps Toward Shelter, a 39 mile journey walking from Bremerton to Tacoma, WA. This walk symbolizes the journey it has taken for The Coffee Oasis to serve youth experiencing homelessness from Kitsap to Pierce County.

We believe we have determined the best and safest route to walk while avoiding walking on Highway 16.

For those who are interested in walking, below is their 2 day itinerary. Please do keep in mind that you will need to plan for your own transportation to/from the designated area and/or your own meeting points. This also means if you need to stop partway through one of the meeting points, you will need to set up your own ride. So that we may keep ourselves on schedule, we will not be able to wait for your arrival and pickup to and from our designated meeting points.

Should you wish to walk with us, please let us know!

It is only through community efforts that The Coffee Oasis can spread awareness about homelessness among youth. You can become a one-time or monthly donor to help local youth programs stay operating to provide youth with safe places to grow, heal, and shelter.

Things to Keep in Mind (from lesson’s we’ve learned…)

1. Hydration! Bring plenty of water regardless of the weather
2. Reflective clothing is always a good idea.  There are lots of options on Amazon
3.  Bring a buddy & share your route with family & friends!  They can meet us along the way!
4. Prepare for rain.  A proper jacket & shoes makes a huge difference.
5. Snacks! A good snack can get you through just about anything.  And especially a PB & J sandwich!
6. Bring toilet tissue, just in case.  It works as Kleenex too.
7. Sunblock, a hat & sunglasses are a must.
8. A portable phone charger is a good idea for longer treks.
9.  We’d appreciate prayer for all those who will be on our  journey towards Tacoma.
10. Make it fun!  Be prepared for lively conversation and spontaneous laughter!

We look forward to seeing how God uses this experience to shed light on His compassion and concern for vulnerable youth.  It has truly been an honor to train and share time together on the road.  We hope this will be a blessing for all involved and look forward to being your guides as we walk from Bremerton to Tacoma!

In His Service & Because He is Faithful,
Julie Judy & Cindy Frederick
