The Coffee Oasis is a Christian non-profit organization that exists to create pathways of opportunity for youth to be restored in heart, soul, mind, and body. We believe youth are the future of our community, but many are hurting, homeless, and hindered from living their full potential. The Coffee Oasis youth programs offer a place for the community to invest in their future—the youth. We do this through creating safe shared spaces, mentorship, street and school outreach, goal setting, job training, shelter, and crisis services. The only way for our mission to succeed is through the support of the entire community—intentional inter-generational and cross-cultural investment. We accomplish this mission through a sustainable and successful coffee business. The cafés offer a “third place” for the community to gather and buy products with the added value of all profits returning to create opportunities for youth.
Mission Statement:
Restoring community through compassionate youth programs and coffee businesses.
Abuse. Homelessness. Depression. Addiction.
These are very real challenges facing youth in our community.
Our goal is to be out there—wherever they are—in the midst of whatever they’re going through. To compassionately offer youth the encouragement and resources they need to thrive.
Since 1997, The Coffee Oasis has offered hope and opportunity to youth 13-25 years old, in Washington state. Thousands of youth have found community and healing through The Coffee Oasis Youth Programs.
The Coffee Oasis offers all resources, services, activities, and programs to youth 13-25 years old without regard to religious beliefs, race, color, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, identity, or disability.

The Story of The Coffee Oasis
The Beginning
Dave and Cindy founded Hope in Christ Ministries in 1996, a non-profit organization with the mission of “bringing the hope of Christ to the pain on the streets.” The following year, Dave and Cindy borrowed money from their parents to purchase a shuttered business called The Coffee Oasis. The Coffee Oasis soon became the place to go for youth in the community.
The Background
In the early 1990s, Pastor Dave and Cindy Frederick opened their home to children in the foster care system. That decision changed their lives. Their home soon filled with not only the youth, but their families and friends. Through foster care and Dave’s experience as a volunteer police chaplain, they met youth in their community caught in a cycle of depression, incarceration, poverty, homelessness, and addiction.

The Youth Programs
The Coffee Oasis Youth Programs started modestly with “Teen Night” on the first Friday in September of 1997. That first night four young adults came from “smokers’ corner” (a popular hangout located across from Bremerton High School) to “check it out.” Since that first Friday, thousands of youth have passed through the doors. They’ve found a place to call their own and people that care for them, regardless of their background or present situation.
The Coffee
We began roasting coffee in-house through the collaboration of our founder, Dave Frederick, and a young man, Rocky Basile, who had graduated from the job training program and was the first youth hired. We promise to fill your cup with coffee that is ethically-sourced, perfectly roasted, and creates opportunities for youth to thrive.

Jesus Statement
What does it mean that The Coffee Oasis is a Christian organization?
We understand that being a Christian organization can mean different things to different people. Being a Christian organization means we believe Jesus is the Way, Truth, and Life. We believe that Hope and Life and Peace and Love and Forgiveness are found in Him.
Therefore, we follow Him.
And following Him means:
We attempt to live the way Jesus lived.
We believe what Jesus believed.
Jesus loved those on the fringes who were often rejected and ostracized.
Like Jesus, we love and serve every individual regardless of their race or religion or gender or identity or values or beliefs or anything else.
We don’t force Jesus on anyone, and we don’t require anyone to believe what we believe. This is the way of Jesus, and we are His followers.
