“I really enjoyed the community and food. It was a great experience and I am looking forward to next year. I am glad that my family can come and share in this too.”
The accomplishments of over 100 youth were celebrated on the evening of May 17th during the Celebration of Achievement events in Kitsap. Accomplishments ranged from securing housing to finding a job, from finishing job training classes to graduating high school.
One youth shared: “I started to cry when Karla talked about my certificate. It meant so much to me.” Youth were nominated by community members, peers, and staff members.
Each Kitsap Drop-In Center at The Coffee Oasis had a unique way of celebrating.
In Poulsbo, a private donor paid for a theater space and the Kiwanis provided pizzas. In Bremerton, the community rallied together to provide a potluck and celebrate at The Coffee Oasis café. In Port Orchard, Adventure of Faith opened their doors and an individual sponsored Olive Garden to be catered. Kingston’s location held their first Celebration of Achievement and the local Rotary club came together to provide a delicious meal for those who attended.
For many youth, this was a pivotal moment and memorable night of recognizing the hard work and perseverance of hard-fought goals. Reflecting on the evening, one honoree shared, “It was a blessing to honor each other’s achievement. I had a wonderful time embracing the accomplishments in our community. I can’t wait to celebrate with those closest to me next year.”
We thank our faithful community of donors, volunteers, and advocates: you are creating a lasting impact in the lives of youth by creating opportunities for them to succeed.
